LWRR Outreach activities at 2020 AALS meetings (D.C.)

Updated January 3, 2020 to identify location of Saturday reception

The Outreach Committee of the Section on Legal Writing, Reasoning, and Research of AALS welcomes interested attendees to join us for a series of events at the annual meeting of the Association of American Law Schools in Washington D.C., January 2-5, 2020. The meetings are centered at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park. We also have a ribbon that will be available to attach to your conference badge to identify yourself as a member of the LWRR community. Finally, you will also find an LWRR “Dance Card” below that lists many sessions that may be of interest to the LWRR community. Check back here for more information as the meeting approaches. You can bookmark this page on your mobile device to keep updated on new information. The page’s design is easy to read on a phone.

Outreach Events

The Outreach Committee is hosting the following events:

  • Dinner before Blackwell Reception (Fri., January 3): Mark your calendar for 5:30-7:30 p.m.! Members of the committee will lead small groups to nearby restaurants for dinner before the Blackwell Award reception. RSVPs for this event are closed.
  • “Post-Ginsburg reception” (Sat.,  January 4, 7:30p.m., Wardman Tower 1360):  Immediately following the RBG presentation on Saturday, January 4. This event is sponsored by McGeorge School of Law, with hosted drinks (including an RBG-inspired cocktail) and food, in McGeorge’s hospitality suite in the hotel, Wardman Tower 1360.

(We had originally thought to plan a “Get out” activity for Friday, January 3, but that did not come together this year.)

New-Member Ribbon

If you are new to LWRR, be sure to grab one of the badge ribbons (shown here) we are making to identify new folks. In fact, grab one even if you are a veteran, as it will help new folks identify you as part of the LWRR family. Ribbons will be available at registration, at LWRR-related meetings, and from some members of the Outreach Committee. Veteran members (and even some who have been here only a year or two) will be keeping an eye out for the berry-colored tokens pictured here and make a special effort to extend a hand to you during the meetings. If you are new and wearing one of these ribbons, and you see someone else wearing one, be sure to say hello to them, too! Thanks to Texas A&M University School of Law for sponsoring these ribbons.
